Program Requirements

Among the basic requirements for admission, students should submit documentation of the following:

Doctor of Regulatory Science, DRSc

  • Baccalaureate or graduate degree in an appropriate discipline.  Applicants must provide official transcripts of colleges/universities attended. Applicants with foreign transcripts must submit an official language transcript as well as a certified translation.  Minimum 3.0 undergraduate grade point average.
  • Proficiency with the English language and excellent communication skills. International applicants who did not receive a 4 year undergraduate degree in the United States are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS exam.  A Master’s degree from a US institution does not waive this requirement.  Official scores must be received directly from the testing service and date no earlier than 2 years (24 months) prior to the start of your intended first term at USC.
  • Three letters of reference highlighting leadership skills in industry.
  • Statement of purpose.  “Why do you want to take the degree in Regulatory Science?”, “What attributes do you have that distinguish you as a good candidate for our program?”, “What are your research interests?” (no more than 2 pages).
  • Resume and/or curriculum vitae.
  • Apply to the DRSc program!
  • Note: applications are accepted every two years (even years only).  The fall 2016 application period has ended – the application deadline was Monday, February 1, 2016.  The fall 2018 application cycle is expected to open in August 2017.

Master of Science

  • Baccalaureate or graduate degree in an appropriate discipline. M.S. applicants should have a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
  • Applicants must provide transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. International applicants from countries issuing official transcripts in the original language must submit an official, original language transcript as well as a certified English translation.
  • Proficiency with the English language and excellent communication skills. M.S. international applicants should have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 or a minimum score of 7 on IELTS.
  • Two letters of reference.
  • One page letter statement of purpose- (i.e. “Why do you want to pursue a degree in Regulatory Science?”, “What attributes do you have that distinguish you as a good candidate for our program?”)
  • GRE scores of 144 Quantitative and 153 Verbal (new exam) or a combined verbal and quantitative GRE score of 1000 (old exam) or equivalent performance on some other standardized test (ie, MCAT, GMAT). This requirement is for M.S. applicants only.

Graduate Certificate

  • Earned bachelor’s degree with a suggested overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. A minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 is preferred.
  • Applicants must provide official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
  • Proficiency with the English language and excellent communication skills.
  • Two letters of reference.
  • One page statement of purpose- (i.e. “Why do you want to pursue a graduate certificate program in Regulatory Science?”, “What attributes do you have that distinguish you as a good candidate for our program?”)
